Lacrosse: Rebels coach see potential in new team
The Dalton Rebels lacrosse program made its competitive de-but Saturday morning, falling in a pair of games at Chattanooga?s McCallie School.
The Rebels, a first-year team affiliated with the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department, lost 14-5 to McCallie and 13-6 to Chattanooga Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The Rebels have more than 30 players on their roster, with ages ranging from 10 to 14.
?The kids get it and understand it, and it was a lot of fun to finally get on the field against someone else,? Dalton coach Mike Sanderson said. ?We are still new to the game, but you can see a lot of potential for this group of kids.?
Chase Andrews and Olico Dennis each finished the day with four goals, while David Hutchinson and Pryce Andrews scored a goal each. The Rebels also benefited from an own goal for their 11th goal of the day.
The team will make its home debut this Saturday at the DPRD?s John Davis Recreation Center on Civic Drive. The Rebels will face Chattanooga FCA at 10 a.m.
